A British woman is reported to have been found dead after being swept away while swimming in a remote part of India.
Ms Reed is said to have gone missing in the state of Meghalay, north of Bangladesh
The woman, who has been named in reports as Christina Reed, 25, went missing as she swam in the Umkynsan River on Saturday.
The Foreign Office would only confirm that a British person was missing and that it was investigating the latest reports.
A report by the Daily Mail quoted police as saying Ms Reed, from Torquay in Devon, drowned after getting caught in a strong current.
Her boyfriend reportedly tried to save her.
The couple had flown to India from Thailand earlier this month and had been trekking in the village of Sohra.
Police in the area could not be reached, but an item on the Meghalaya Police website said that Ms Reed had drowned, with the body located at around 2pm on Tuesday.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are aware that a British national has been reported missing in India.
"Local authorities are investigating. We are in touch with the family and providing consular assistance."
