Thatcher's handbag sold
8.40PM Mon Jun 27 2011A handbag that belonged to Margaret Thatcher has been sold at auction for £25,000.
The leather bag was owned by the former Prime Minister for 30 years.
In one famous photograph, she was seen carrying the bag as she walked she walked alongside president Ronald Reagan during her visit to the United States in 1985.
To many people, it came to symbolise her combative style of government.
The lot donated by Lady Thatcher was among a number of highly prized items sold by author Lord Archer - acting as the auctioneer - for charitable causes.
It was bought by an unnamed Cypriot who is understood to have been a student in Britain during Lady Thatcher's tenure as prime minister.
