Asus seems to be pretty serious about their upcoming Eee Pad Transformer device, with word from Digitimes claiming the Taiwanese company is working to ship up to 4.5 million tablet devices before 2011 is over – which makes that figure double the original amount that was estimated, and to make it all the more impressive, we are talking about a year’s worth of supply.

Word on the street has it that Asus requires a maximum of 500,000 touch panels to be delivered each month by its suppliers, which would obviously lead folks to conclude on such an optimistic shipping estimate. If this holds true, then Asus might end up to be even busier on the business end of things compared to Motorola with their XOOM variants and the BlackBerry PlayBook.
