AT&T sweetens day with Gingerbread news for all 2011 Android smartphones

Let me ask you a question – did you pick up an Android-powered smartphone from AT&T which was also released this year? If you have answered in the affirmative, then your Monday has kicked off on a good note as Ma Bell has just announced that all post-paid Android smartphones from their stable this year will be picking up the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update – assuming it has yet to be launched, of course. Not only that, one phone released last year also made the cut – the Samsung Captivate.

Since the recently released HTC Status came with Android 2.3 Gingerbread right out of the box, not to mention the Motorola ATRIX 4G receiving said update as well, the remainder models would be the HTC Inspire 4G, LG Phoenix, Pantech Crossover, and the Samsung Infuse 4G that are begging for some Gingerbread goodness. According to AT&T, the HTC Inspire 4G ought to be getting its update within weeks.

Hopefully AT&T will be able to keep to their promise and not disappoint anyone, and we do wish other carriers can also lay down similar promises so that it would go a long way in helping folks decide on purchasing a smartphone there and then.
